We are looking for a person to support us in a long running project for our customer Roche-Diagnostics.

We are developing an MES(manufacturing execution system) system based on a software from Siemens (SIMATIC IT). The project handles stuff like material management, production-planning, Sample-management, SAP interaction etc. The applications also act as a driving system for the production itself, thus it communicates with underlying systems (SIMATIC PCS7) to start batches that interact witht the physical devices that are mostly connected via PLCs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Programmable_logic_controller).
Our code consists of roughly 700k lines of .Net code (mostly VB.Net and little C#) and is build in about 7 different layers (libraries). The system also includes some full-clients, which are default Windows-Forms applications. Our servers are written as default windows services that can be consumed via .Net-Remoting. The database is MS-SQL-Server 2016.
The main challenge on this project is, that one needs to understand very exact, what needs to be done, because the developing steps are tightly coupled to the production steps. Unfortunately the operators, which make the requirements, are not realy technical affine. Therefore you need to have a deep understanding on the one hand, how the software works but also how the production works, in order to deliver software that "works". However this is not a very big deal, because software at Roche is developed in a waterfall principle: User-Requirements -> System-Requirements -> Architectual-Design -> Technical-Design and testing via Unit-Test -> Integration-Test -> System-Test -> Regesion-Tests
Our Part is the Technical-Design and Unit-Test + Integration-Test. We also have to create those documents (Doors) and run the tests on our developing systems.
