US politicians have voted without dissent to pay tribute to the landmark Miles Davis album Kind Of Blue.
The US House of Representatives voted 409-0 to pass a symbolic resolution honouring the album and reaffirming jazz as a national treasure.
The measure, which says the record was made in 1959, praises its "unique contribution" to jazz and urges the US government "to take all appropriate steps" to preserve and promote jazz.
It also directs the House clerk to deliver copies of the resolution to Columbia Records, the label that produced Kind Of Blue.
The celebrated album, which ranks 12th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, had sold at least 4,000,000 copies as of 2008 - making it the bestselling album in jazz history.

"Take Five" is the famous jazz piece written by Paul Desmond and performed by The Dave Brubeck Quartet. It is famous for its distinctive saxophone line and use of the unusual quintuple (5/4) time, from which its name is derived.
