The Balkan Investigative Reporting Network, BIRN, is looking for an in-house Web Developer / Webmaster to provide technical support, back-end and front-end development for its portfolio of web sites.
Duties and responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work on back-end maintenance and feature development for a custom-made Content Management System, in collaboration with an outsourced company from which the software is licensed.
The job position also includes front-end development for the CMS interface (with outsourced team), and on the web sites in cooperation with an in-house senior web designer.
The candidate will also provide technical support for third party service back-end or front-end integration, webmastering (google webmaster tools, HTML/CSS validation monitoring, code refactoring) and work in collaboration with the web designer in preparing web site packages (primarily with JavaScript/Ajax).
The candidate will work on all projects and tasks within Assembla, a collaboration tool, project management and code management platform for developers.
The candidate will report to the Team Lead for software development, Senior Web Designer for website front-end development and the Chief Digital Officer at BIRN.
Skills:
PHP 5.3+
Java
Linux
SQL, experience with PostgreSQL desirable
JavaScript (Advanced)
GIT and SVN
Experience with webmastering desirable
